FAQ

ASK THE AWKWARD ONES

Everything people email us at 1am. Answered straight, no marketing voice.

Applications & Approval

What actually is HouseMatez?

+

A private 21+ nightlife community. We produce our own events (FREQ, HEAT, ESCAPE), we take over premium nightlife together (ACCESS), and in between there's a member community that keeps the group chat busy.

How do I apply?

+

Request an invite from the site. You'll tell us whether you're applying as a single or a couple, your home base, your age, contact details and a couple of clear photos for verification. It takes a few minutes.

Why do you ask for photos?

+

For verification, so we know real people are behind the application. Photos are reviewed privately by our team, never published, and there is no public member directory.

How long does approval take?

+

Usually a few days. Every application is reviewed individually by our team rather than automatically, and you'll hear back by email either way.

What are you actually looking for?

+

People who are respectful, well-groomed, socially aware, fun to be around and genuinely comfortable with the idea of an open-minded room. Effort and manners count more than anything else.

What happens after I'm approved?

+

You'll get a link to create your member account. That account is where event drops, tickets, RSVPs and the community live.

I wasn't approved. Can I apply again?

+

Yes. Guest lists are balanced per event and per city, so a no now isn't always a no forever. Wait a few months and apply again.

Couples, Singles & Coming Alone

Do you accept single men?

+

Yes, and they're a big part of why the room works — but single-male spots are limited because we actively manage the balance of our guest list. Those tickets tend to go first, so apply early and move fast on drops.

Do you accept single women?

+

Yes. Single women apply the same way and generally have wider availability on ticket drops.

Can I come without my partner?

+

If you're approved as a couple, you can attend solo when your partner can't make it — just tell us when you buy, since it changes which ticket type applies.

Is it weird to come alone?

+

No. Plenty of people arrive solo, and our hosts are good at making introductions. Start with an ACCESS night if you want the easiest possible first one.

Are you LGBTQ+ friendly?

+

Yes. Couples of every configuration, and singles of every orientation, are welcome. What we don't allow is anyone treating another member's identity or orientation as an invitation.

The Events

What are the different event formats?

+

FREQ is the big UV-lit party. HEAT is the smaller, later, more intimate one. ESCAPE is a destination weekend. ACCESS is a takeover of premium nightlife — a club, dayclub or table night out together.

What do 'adult-play' labels mean?

+

Some HouseMatez-produced events, or specific rooms within them, are labelled adult play or clothing optional. The label tells you what's possible in that space, never what's expected of you. Every label is published in the event drop before you buy.

Do I have to do anything at an event?

+

No. Dance all night, stay wrapped around your partner, talk to strangers, watch, or leave early. Freedom is having the option, not an obligation.

What do I wear?

+

Every event listing has its own dress code. Generally: festival after dark — neon, mesh, body paint, ravewear, or an outfit you feel dangerous in. At partner venues, the venue's dress code applies. Effort is always the dress code.

What's different about ACCESS experiences?

+

ACCESS happens in third-party venues. The venue runs its own security, entry policy and dress code, the wider crowd isn't a vetted guest list, and there is no adult play. It's a great night out with the group, nothing more.

Can I bring a friend?

+

Not as a plus-one. Everyone in the room has been approved individually. Send them the invite link — referrals from members carry weight.

Tickets, Drops & Membership

How do ticket drops work?

+

Events are announced to members as drops, with the format, city, vibe, dress code and ticket types. Each ticket type is released in limited numbers, and buying is first come, first served.

What does it cost?

+

Member access is free. Events are ticketed individually and priced per event, because production, venue and table costs vary wildly between a FREQ and an ACCESS cabana.

What are the membership levels?

+

Member (free), Guestlist, VIP and Reserve. Paid levels change your access to drops, priority and perks — never whether you were approved. See the membership page for detail.

Does paying get me approved faster?

+

No. Approval and payment are entirely separate. No membership level, ticket, table or bottle spend bypasses curation.

What if an event sells out?

+

Ticket types close individually, and once a type is gone, it's gone. Join the waitlist inside your member account — releases happen when plans change, and waitlist members get first notice. Table and cabana inventory sometimes opens up later.

Can I get a refund?

+

Tickets are generally non-refundable because the guest list is balanced around who bought what. If your plans change, contact the team early and we'll do what we can, usually a transfer to another approved member.

Privacy, Photos & Location

Is it private?

+

Yes. Applications are reviewed privately, there's no public member directory, and we don't publish who attends anything.

Can I take photos?

+

No photos, no video, no screenshots of other guests at any HouseMatez event. Our team shoots approved content only, with consent, and never in play areas.

When do I find out where the event is?

+

City and neighbourhood go out with the drop. The exact address for private events is released to confirmed ticket holders shortly before the night, usually 24 to 48 hours out.

Where do you throw events?

+

San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, plus destination weekends.

I'm brand new and slightly terrified.

+

Perfect — that's most people at their first one. Read the New Here guides, then start with an ACCESS night where nothing is expected of you except showing up.
